The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR635 with the next generation AMD EPYC™ architecture is ideal for I/O intensive workloads, from databases and analytics, to virtualized environments (VDI) and hybrid cloud solutions.
This 1U, single socket rack server is right-sized to offer the balanced processor power, performance, memory and I/O of a 2-socket server at the value and total cost of ownership of a 1-socket server. Utilizing the SR635 in a data center environment helps rein in both rising data center costs and data volumes while also addressing ever-expanding capability requirements for the software-defined data center.
With the enterprise class AMD EPYC™ 7002 / 7003 Series processor, the world’s first 7nm data center CPU, the SR635 features up to an unprecedented 64 cores with 128 PCIe lanes in a single socket to reduce bottlenecks and increase server utilization.
Compared to the previous processor generations, ThinkSystem servers with AMD architecture deliver up to 2X performance and 4X floating point capability with PCIe Gen4 support and faster memory speeds up to 3200MHz, providing faster data transfer and analytics without sacrificing memory capacity or I/O.
Flexible Design
ThinkSystem SR635 features a balanced design specifically tuned for virtualization and scale-out software-defined storage.
Capacity for up to 16x2.5” drives mean it is storage-intense; and when outfitted with 16 low-latency NVMe drives, it provides 60% more NVMe and IOPS/box for OLTP, Analytics, software-defined and HPC storage.
It is also workload-hungry featuring three single-wide graphic processing units (GPUs) and three PCIe Gen4 slots achieving up to 16 GT/s for increased acceleration and supporting 1TB of DDR4 memory capacity using 16 DIMMs, ideal for in-memory database applications.
The SR635 server’s design allows it to be tuned for workloads that benefit from greater I/O capabilities, GPU-intensive environments, and low-latency storage.
Such capabilities make the SR635 ideal for industry verticals such as: grid-computing and high-frequency trading analytics in the financial services sector, capacity planning and supply chain optimization in both the telco and manufacturing industries, and EHR/ EMR analysis in the healthcare sector.
