New ThinkSystem servers
On November 28, we announced three new ThinkSystem servers, the SR860, SR590 and SR570.
ThinkSystem SR860 serverThe Lenovo ThinkSystem SR860 is a 4-socket server that features a 4U rack design with support for GPUs, and is optimized for price and performance and best-in-class expandability. Models of the SR860 are powered by up to four Intel Xeon Processor Scalable Family processors, each with up to 28 cores, for an efficient 4-socket solution. For details, see the following Lenovo Press resources:
|
Note: The SR860 is only available in China and countries in the EMEA region |
ThinkSystem SR590 serverLenovo ThinkSystem SR590 is a 2-socket 2U rack server for small businesses up to large enterprises that need industry-leading reliability, management, and security, as well as balancing performance and expandability. The server supports 1 TB of memory, up to 16x 2.5-inch or 14x 3.5-inch drive bays with support of NVMe PCIe SSDs and SAS/SATA HDDs & SSDs, and a LOM networking slot and up to 6x PCIe slots. 88 Performance World Records
As of November 8, 2017, Lenovo achieved 46 new #1 benchmarks across the ThinkSystem server line. Combined with the 42 benchmarks we maintained as #1 from July, we now have a total of 88 current world record benchmarks.
These world-record benchmark results are primarily on the ThinkSystem SR950 and SR650 rack servers, however, records have also been set with the ThinkSystem SD530 dense server, SR630 and SR850 rack servers, and the SN550 blade server. All ThinkSystem servers are based on the Intel Xeon Scalable Family of processors.
ThinkSystem SD530 - GPUs and management upgrades
On November 14, we announced the following upgrades to our 2U-Four-Node offering, the ThinkSystem SD530 server:
ThinkSystem SD530 GPU Tray
The SD530 now supports GPU adapters with the addition of SD530 GPU tray.
The GPU tray supports one or two double-wide GPUs and two of these combined systems can be installed in the enclosure for a total of 4 processors and 4 GPUs in 2U of rack space.
For details, see the GPU Tray and GPU adapters section of the SD530 product guide.
Dual-port System Management Module
Lenovo also announced the Dual-port System Management Module. It has the same functions as the existing single-port SMM but offers two RJ45 ports. The SMM installs in the enclosure and provides the central point for management connections, both to the enclosure itself plus all servers installed in the enclosure.
The new dual-port SMM provides the ability to daisy-chain the management connections thereby reducing the number of ports you need in your management switches and reducing the overall cable density needed for systems management. Up to 7 enclosures can be daisy-chained together.

For details, see the Remote Management section of the SD530 product guide.
Lenovo ThinkAgile VX Series appliances with VMware vSAN
