Abstract

The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR950 V3 has set three new world records on Linux for the SPECpower_ssj 2008 benchmark.

This document summarizes the SPECpower_ssj 2008 benchmark result for the ThinkSystem SR950 V3 that was published on March 31, 2025. Introduction

Lenovo has published a new SPECpower_ssj 2008 benchmark result that has set three new world records. The result has been achieved on the powerful Lenovo ThinkSystem SR950 V3 server using the new Intel Xeon Platinum 8490H processor.

The world-record benchmark result is:

  • Best 8U rack system
  • Best score on a 8-processor, 8U rack system
  • Best score on a 8-processor, 8U rack system running Linux

Lenovo SR950 V3

The SPECpower_ssj 2008 benchmark is an industry-standard benchmark that evaluates the power and performance characteristics of single servers and multi-node servers.

 

The ThinkSystem SR950 V3 server achieved the following score :

  • SPECpower_ssj2008 = 13,941 overall ssj_ops/watt

The SR950 V3 was configured as follows:

  • 8x Intel Xeon Platinum 8490H processor (60-Core, 1.9GHz, 112.5MB L3 Cache)
  • 4096 GB of DDR5 memory
  • 1x 960GB M.2 SSD
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP6
  • Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.0.10+11-LTS-240, mixed mode, sharing), version 17.0.10

About the ThinkSystem SR950 V3

The Lenovo SR950 V3 is an 8-socket server that features an 8U rack design, with two 4U units cabled together for ease of installation. The server offers technology advances, including 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, and scale-up capacity of up to 32TB of system memory, up to 14x PCIe slots (6x front, 8x rear), and up to 16x 2.5-inch or 16x E3.S EDSFF drive bays.

The SR950 V3 is designed for the most demanding, mission-critical workloads, such as in-memory databases, large transactional databases, real-time analytics, ERP, CRM, and virtualized server workloads.
